Editors pic: Top 5 Hand creams

Posted April 11, 2016 by in Beauty Products

With winter approaching, it’s important to keep our hands feeling soft and hydrated, so to help you , we have chosen our top 5 hand-creams for Winter 2016.

I like to keep a few in rotation in my handbag, my desk, my car, for special treatments and for night-care treatment.

Filorga –Hand Absolute:

One of my favourite skincare brands, Filorga, has just introduced the new Hand Absolute – the Ultimate Rejuvenation for Hands and Nails that helps eliminate the signs of hand-ageing. It’s like a manicure in a tube: – it firms and plumps thinning, wrinkled skin, brightens the skin tone and strengthens nails. It is ideal for dry hands and brittle nails. I love the small cannula tip of the tube for easier application on nails and cuticles. It can also be applied over nail polish. Hand-Absolute is available in selected Edgars and Red Square stores.

Retails R 400.00 for 50ml.

Revlon De-Aging Hand Cream:

This one stays in my car as it is non-greasy (no slippery hands on the steering wheel) and has a UV protection factor SPF 10 to protect my hands from the sun while driving. It contains a plant-derived brightening complex to even out skin tone and minimize the appearance of those dark pigmentation marks that give away our age.

Retails at around R120.00 for 100ml.

Nivea Express Hydration:

This one is stays on my desk –the ultra-light, fast absorbing formula with natural sea mineral hydrating complex gives my skin an instant burst of hydration without any stickiness. It’s perfect for when you don’t want greasy hands and being limited to touch things – like keyboards or touch screens. It leaves my hands with an instant feeling of hydration. Containing natural sea minerals, the aroma is very fresh and light – it reminds me of the ocean.

Retails at R25 for 75ml

LCN Cold Cream with Beeswax:

This is my favourite super nourishing night care treatment at the moment. With the intensively nourishing cold cream and beeswax formulation this cream forms a protective layer on the skin. I like to leave it on for 8 hours to get the most out of the great ingredients, which include vitamin E. By morning my hands are ready for another day of changing nappies, hours of tapping away on my laptop and glamorous media events. (I also use it on my feet to keep them soft and pretty for summer sandals)

Retails for approx. R240.00 at LCN stockists

African Extracts Enriched Hand and Nail Cream SPF 15

This one stays in my handbag at all times. Don’t you hate it when you are out at a restaurant, wash your hands and there is nothing to keep them feeling hydrated? This nourishing hand and nail cream has the antioxidant power of Bio-Active Rooibos extract, milk thistle extract, vitamins A and E and UV protections. It also contains keratin and vitamin C for strong, healthy nails. It leaves my hands feeling smooth and hydrated.

Retails at around R50 for 50ml.
