Q&A With Off The Rails Stylist Julie
Julie is a Cape Town based fashion and trend consultant.
Her booming business, Off The Rails, will add value to your life by assisting you with clearing out your wardrobe and shopping for new clothes to make you look stylish and feel confident.
We did a Q&A with Julie to find out more about her sophisticated style and taste in fashion.
How did Off the Rails start? I started 10 years ago after my first child was born so that I could have flexibility in my work day. The idea originated from my previous career in buying at a major retailer, whereby you have to show your clothing range every season to the board of directors. I wanted to show the regular women how to put a whole look together from top-to-toe.
What is your favourite thing about being a stylist? Seeing the change that happens in a women when she is dressed beautifully and the new confidence it gives her to face her day.
What would you say are the key items every woman should have in their wardrobe? Well you definitely need a good quality leather bag in a neutral colour that is not seasonal, a denim jacket in summer a trench coat in camel for cooler days and a fabulous pair of jeans.
Three words to describe your style – classic, contemporary with a twist!
What do you prefer coffee or tea? Def coffee
Your favourite place in the world to shop fashion? – it’s an equal toss up between NY which you can find real bargains, London on the high street and Paris for the cream on top.
Who is your favourite local designer? At the moment I have to say Tamara Cherie, as she has managed to bring good quality fabrics into her range and her style has a European feel and elegance to it which I love.
