Benguela On Main – Fine Dining At Its Best
Benguela On Main is the epitome of stylish sophistication.
Situated on the bustling Somerset West Main Road, the restaurant incorporates a luxurious yet modern approach to fine dining and wine.
Members of the press were invited to experience Executive Chef Jean Delport’s 6-course fine dining à la carte menu which included classic French and English dishes with a modern twist.
The dishes were a combination of creativity, expertise and an explosion of flavour. Our first course was Sweet & Tangy Sichuan Pear with Parmesan Custard – my personal favourite. We also indulged in Two Acts of Steak consisting of fillet, beef rib, tongue and beurre noisette which were made to perfection. Other courses included a mouthwatering Pepe Charlotte Chèvre Frais, Season of Pumpkin and more dishes with its own unique flair and flavour.
Chef Jean prepared all the food with the greatest attention to detail and visually all of the six courses looked as divine as it tasted. All of their tasting menus are created regularly and paired with Benguela Cove wines for a unique gastronomic experience.
When I first stepped into the restaurant I immediately thought how perfect a Chanel themed birthday dinner would work in this luxurious space. The interior is beyond beautiful and definitely a one-of-a-kind eating out experience for Cape Town locals and tourists.

Benguela on Main offers diners an all-round experience and I can highly recommend this little gem to anyone.
TRADING HOURS: Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 2:30pm for lunch and 6:30pm to 9pm for dinner.
The Taster is also open for wine tastings and sales, Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 9pm.
